In this quick and easy post I will show you how to install Skype on Linux Mint and Ubuntu. You may have noticed that if you are running Ubuntu you can’t just type in sudo apt-get install skype, it can’t find the package this is because you have to add the correct repository before you can install Skype. If you are running Linux Mint you can skip to the last step.
You can install Skype on Linux Mint 13 or Ubuntu 12.04 by running the commands found below. (Linux Mint users can skip to step 3)
1. Add the correct repository with the command below.
sudo apt-add-repository “deb http://archive.canonical.com/ $(lsb_release -sc) partner”
2. Update your available packages list to include the newly added repository.
sudo apt-get update
3. Install Skype and enjoy!
sudo apt-get install skype
